2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8

The newest Grand Cherokee has arrived and there are major changes made by Jeep on the performance SUV. The Street and Racing Technology (SRT) division of The Chrysler Group was in charge of equipping the newest model, which has a new name – The 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8. With an all-new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that delivers 465 horsepower and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque, the SUV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.8 seconds.

A significant improvement over the old model which had a 6.1-liter HEMI V8 is the new Grand Cherokee SRT8’s extra 45HP and 45 lb-ft(61 Nm) of torque. Another thing worth noting is the capability of the engine to run on just 4 cylinders on a wider rpm range. This means that it can deliver up to 13 percent better mileage on the highway and an extended range of around 450 miles on a single tank of gas.

In the looks department, the new model does not disappoint. It’s equipped with the SRT8 body kit which has wheel arches, side sills, and a racing style front bumper. The body of the vehicle was also lowered by 1 inch/25 cm. Expect the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 to be seen on the floors of U.S. showrooms around the third quarter of this year.
